SmileSafe Kids Program -
We are happy to announce a partnership between Southern Valley Schools, Lifetouch Studios and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).
SmileSafe Kids program is free of charge to help families stay safer by providing Safety I.D. cards. The cards can be used by authorities should your child become separated or missing. Parents can access the link for more information regarding the SmileSafe Kids program.

Parents can acces information on this link as it relates to Health Issues and your child. They can be accessed by seperate health topics. The pdf documents require Adobe Acrobat Reader to download.

Health topic #5 deals with the topic of Influenza or the Flu. Parents can find information forwarded from the Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department, which is a department of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, dealing with the topic of "Stopping Germs at Home, Work and School".
Health Topics #6 - Infectious and Communicable Disease information for parents/guardians.
Health topic #6 deals with Infectious and Communicable Disease control. Parents can find information from Nebraska Public Health Department, which is a department of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, as well as information from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC)
Kids Connection -
Kids Connection is the state children's health insurance program. The purpose of Kids Connection is to provide health care to low-income uninsured children all across the state. Your child's eligibility to have health care coverage through Kids Connection is based primarily on your family's income.
Kindergarten - School Entrance and Registration -
Pre-school registration for children entering kindergarten is held each spring. Letters stating the specific day and time are sent to parents of pre-kindergartners and notices are placed in the local newspapers. ALL students entering kindergarten in Nebraska schools must have reached their fifth birthday before the 15th of October. During pre-registration, the dates and time for kindergarten roundup will be announced. Specific screening of students must be requested at this time by the parent.
Parents are reminded that State of Nebraska School Law and Southern Valley School Board Policy requires that parents/guardians must provide:
1) Certified Copy of the Child's Birth Certificate;
2) Completed copy of Physical Examination or Waiver of Physical Examination; and
3) Evidence of Completed Immunizations or appropriately signed Waivers of Immunization.
These items must be provided to the school prior to your child's first day in school. If you have any questions, feel free to contact your child's school. The two links above will take you to the Nebraska Health and Human Services System website which can assist you.
Powerschool -
Southern Valley Schools began using a new student information system during the 2003 - 2004 school year. Provided that you currently have access to the Internet, either at your home or at the public library, you can use your Powerschool link to obtain current information regarding class assignments and progress information such as grades, attendance, and teacher notes. Security procedures, including user names and passwords, are used to ensure that parents/guardians and students can access and view information solely related to authorized family members. Please protect the confidentiality of your user name and password to preclude unauthorized access.
School Calendar -
Parents/guardians have the option to look over the Southern Valley Schools 2007 - 2008 Calendar or the individual Monthly Calendar. Parents can also access and print the school calendar as a PDF document by linking to 2006 - 2007 pdf..
School Closing Information -
Parents/guardians and students are reminded to listen to the following media stations to receive up to date school related information. School Closing Information will be called in to the radio and television stations as soon possible.
Student Handbook -
The link 0708StudentHandbook will allow students and parents the opportunity to look over the Southern Valley Student Handbook. The handbook is a 3 section handbook, with the Elementary being specific to Section 3.
